Bioplastics are an extraordinary place to be right now. Recent reports from Ceresana and Freedonia both predict extremely robust growth for the sector, as consumer demand for sustainable materials continues to rise and bioplastics prices start to come down. Have bioplastics finally reached the turning point? Bioplastics are already rapidly making up for their less than stellar performance in the past. And 2012 might well be the year in which the bioplastics industry truly comes of age. Key drivers will include improved product performance and improved availability – two obstacles, which, in the past, have hindered the acceptance and use of these materials – and price parity with oil -based polymers, another major hurdle, which bioplastics producers are working to overcome. The high costs of research and development have kept the price of bioplastics high, and volumes low. As demand increases, availability becomes more reliable and performance rises, bioplastics prices will fall. The question is, however, where will the growth be? Biosourced? Biodegradable? Drop-ins or novel materials? To date, biodegradable plastics continue to dominate the bioplastics market. However, technical developments and product innovations are set to change this trend . Over the coming years, non-biodegradable plastics based on renewable feedstocks will become increasingly important players in the bioplastics market. Looking ahead at what we might expect for 2012, one area that looks especially promising is that of PLA technology. Both biosourced and, if desired, biodegradable, this technology is developing at an extremely fast pace. New blends and additive are increasingly improving the thermal, barrier and mechanical properties of this biopolymer. The commercialization of non-biodegradable, heat-resistant, durable PLA based on L- lactide and D-lactide monomer technology will gain momentum, as will the development of second and even third generation PLA. Purac is leading the way in this area, and has reported that it is already at an advanced development stage for third generation PLA, based on a gypsum-free lactic acid process that is entirely carbon neutral. Another area that is set to expand rapidly is that of the so-called “bio” drop-in materials. These are bioplastics produced from drop-in commodity chemicals based on renewable feedstocks that perform in exactly the same way as their petrochemical variants. Use of drop-in materials involves less risk due to their compatibility with existing manufacturing and recycling streams. This has led major corporations such as Tetra Pak, Johnson

The European Policies on Renewable
The European Council of October 14, 2010
directed cheap air force ones in March 2006 the European Commission to prepare a directive for renewable energy in an effort to:
. combat climate change, and
2. ensure security of energy supply
In January 2008, the Commission unveiled its Renewable Energy Directive, proposing a binding 20% ??target for renewable energy in total energy consumption in the EU by 2020 and a binding 10% renewable energy target for transport.
Speaking at the 2nd International Palm Oil Trade Fair and Seminar held in Kuala Lumpur recently, Ilmari Lastikka of Neste Oil Corp. pointed out that the directive contained strict sustainability criteria for bio-fuels with a requirement for greenhouse gas savings of 35% to 60% when compared with fossil fuels.
The proposals essentially set out clear guidelines for the:
1. prevention of the loss of high biodiversity land,
2. prevention of the loss of high carbon stock land
3. compliance of environmentally friendly agricultural practices, and
4. certain social criteria relating to labor rights
The directive air force 1 mid is currently under review by the European Council and the European parliament.
Says Lastikka,-: Suo-cream ste Oil, Ge? proprietary technology for producing NExBTL renewable diesel can potentially use a wide range of raw material feedstocks. In the near-term, vegetable oil sourced from palm oil is among the most widely and commercially available? He observed that Uumi lm oil is well placed to serve as an risk group feedstock for renewable diesel as it has aa a high potential to the save greenhouse gas emissions.? br />
Pointing out that Suo cream ste Oil, was the first oil company to join the Roundtable, on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO),? Lastikka affirms that Neste had Suopu to the mmitted fully to sustainable sourcing of feedstocks for the production of the NExBTL renewable diesel.? The RSPO has over 270 members, representing all phases of production and civil society? including many NGOs with critical interests in rainforest conservation and protecting the habitat of threatened species including orangutan populations.
Lastikka also laments that the latent underpinning of the directive was a strong support nike af1 for domestic agriculture and notes, with some irony that environmental NGOs Ge? were treated by the Commission as experts on sustainability issues
In the view of the Palm Oil Truth Foundation, it is imperative that such sustainability criteria set out by this directive has to be based on sound science and should not serve as a concealed trade barrier!
In any event, the palm oil industry has to prepare for the eventuality that when the directive comes into force circa 2010, it will change the fundamentals of the biofuel industry. Then sustainability and greenhouse gas data verification will serve as the fundamental requirements for market entry into Europe Ge? Renewable Energy and Biofuel market. The Palm oil feedstocks air force 1 mid, that are grown according to a relevant environmental standard such as the the RSPO Ge? with good supporting GHG data will likely enjoy a considerabremium over other feedstocks. Neurodevelopmental Outcomes in Preterm Infants: Comparison
of Infants with and without Diffuse Excessive High Signal Intensity
on MR Images at Near-term-equivalent Age
Abstract
Purpose: To compare the neurodevelopmental outcomes between
preterm infants with diffuse excessive high signal intensity
(DEHSI) and those without DEHSI on magnetic resonance (MR) images,
in association with other white matter lesions.Materials and
Methods: This retrospective study was approved by the institutional
review board, and requirement to obtain informed consent was
waived. High-risk preterm infants (n = 126) who underwent screening
brain MR imaging at near-term-equivalent age were classified into
two groups according to the presence of DEHSI. Bayley Scales of
Infant Development-II, presence of cerebral palsy, and neurosensory
impairment between 18 and 24 months of age were compared between
the two groups. The associations of MR findings of other white
matter lesions (cystic encephalomalacia, punctate lesions, loss of
volume, ventricular dilatation, and delayed myelination) and
subsequent outcomes were also analyzed. Outcome data were evaluated
by using exact logistic regression analyses and Fisher exact
test. Results: DEHSI was present in 75% (95 of 126) of infants.
Subsequent neurodevelopmental outcomes did not differ significantly
between the two groups . Severe motor delay and cerebral palsy were
more common in infants with both DEHSI and other white matter
lesions as compared with infants with normal white matter (P = .001
and P <.001 , respectively). Among other white
matter lesions, cystic encephalomalacia (odds ratio, 19.6; 95%
confidence interval: 1.3, 333.3) and punctate lesions (odds ratio,
90.9; 95% confidence interval: 6.4, 1000) were significant
predictors of cerebral palsy. Conclusion: Although the incidence of
DEHSI was high (75%) in preterm infants at near-term-equivalent age
MR imaging, DEHSI was not predictive of following adverse outcomes.
Cystic encephalomalacia and punctate lesions were more significant
predictors of cerebral palsy.

China luxury market in recent years showing a vitality, this paper focuses on the research topic of the consumer issues of the Chinese people, especially luxury goods consumption. Review the history of the United States in the early 20th century, consumerism and hedonism has become popular in the late 19th century, Dresser novel “Sister Carrie” distinctive reveals rapid development of capitalist industrial production, money worship fashion is pervasive in the social, people almost pathological reliance on the substance and wealth and the spirit of the society as a whole lap of this situation of crisis and imbalance. Sister Carrie deep desire quagmire unable to extricate themselves, to become one of the millions of Americans faced with the spirit of the ecological crisis. In this thesis, caused Sister Carrie becomes so because the Chinese society today some of the blind pursuit of luxury consumption reasons, drawing lessons from history, which put forward some feasible measures to establish and have the correct view of consumption.
